Did you miss me?
<insert a large number of blank stares here>
Alright, well, some of you may have missed me. Some of you may have no idea who I am, or why I would have been missed, and for you I have written a FAQ! tl;dr: once upon a time, there was a blog named unchained. unchained was a blog about Japanese music written by me, pengie. It was gone, and now it’s back! With the same URL, even!
<more blank stares>
Alright, whatever. Point is, I’m here to BLOW YOUR MINDS with some blog posts about my favorite Japanese pop, rock, indie, post-rock, and whatever-the-heck-else music. I’m planning to post sporadically, but hopefully for a while; those of you who do remember me probably remember that I was the queen of starting projects I never really finished, but I’m trying to turn over a new leaf now.
I look forward to a hopefully long and awesome series of blog posts on the new and improved unchained! Whether you’re a new reader or a seasoned, uh, pengie veteran (?), thanks for joining me. I welcome your comments, questions, and feedback on this and every one of my posts. Yoroshiku!
Hi pengie.
Glad you’re back, we were waiting for you !
Hi Pengie! It’s been a loooooong time since I talked to you, BUT …. I wanted to thank you for introducing me to a band a few years back.
My band recently had the privilege of playing a show during the South by Southwest conference in Austin a week or so ago and on the way to the venue, I was told we’d be playing after the Meat Puppets finished (which was already pretty cool). Well, once we were there, we were told that there was one band from Japan that would go up before us. I asked what they were called to see if I’d heard of them. Well, it was fucking LITE! They were amazing as expected and I got to hang out with them after their set. They stuck around for our show and loved us (I saw the drummer dancing at one point). We scheduled some shows together for next year and have been keeping in touch since. Pretty cool stuff.
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that and thank you for turning my on to what is now one of my favorite Japanese rock bands.
Holy fucking shit! That is AWESOME! You lucky motherfucker. Um /cough ANYWAY, wow, thanks so much for letting me know about that! I’m so glad I was able to introduce you to LITE way back when.
